I love this piece. It’s been hard for me to let go of it. Maybe it’s how surprised I was as I painted it. It is as if the bear emerged without a plan when I started on the forest background. Making art always surprises me. This was one of the first that took on a character and illustrative quality, too. I can see it in a children’s room or nursery, or as part of Animal series of paintings on your wall.
