Happy Artsy Halloween

Every year I say I’m going to prepare art well ahead of the holiday season, and yet I’m always rushing from September into December. Isn’t that true for the holiday season, in general? I’ll have to learn to mark my calendar and play some holiday music off-season to get ready. Nevertheless, I have been having some fun with Day of the Dead, Autumn, and Halloween this year. Most are just a part of my journaling, but I’ll post a link to some spooky merchandise below.

Book Launch and Events

I hosted the first book-signing celebration last weekend. It was wonderful sharing the book, wine and tapas, and great conversation. Bruno’s Lucky 13 was a warm and inviting venue, and I sold and signed some copies.

The next event, CAT IDIOMS AND CONVERSATION will be on November 19, 8pm at Book Lovers Valencia. I’ll lead a brief Language Exchange activity using my book as a jumping-off point, and then sign copies and answer questions. Because Learning English with Cat Idioms is a language resource, I’m offering mini language lesson/activities with many of my book signing events.

I’d love for copies to be available around the world in libraries (and homes).

This holiday season I’d appreciate if you add one to your local library and share one with a cat-loving, English language oficionado.

Behind the Scenes

I’ve been making bookmarks and cards for the holidays, working on a series of acrylics which I’ll be ready to share in the new year, and painting dogs, dogs, dogs. I’m moving into painting illustrations for my next book, which will feature dogs with idioms.

I make it a habit to walk to local museums, jed a collage and drawing group, and an online art community. These social events and groups inspire me, and I learn from others’ creativity and critiques. I’m generally a very introverted person and my happy-place is alone in the studio painting but life is much more enriched with these friends and gatherings.
