Pet Portraits is a Collaboration
Painting Pet Portraits
Did you know I am available for commissions of pet portraits? I’ve been lucky enough to do them in watercolor and acrylics. I love capturing the expression and essence of these animal friends and family members. Sometimes a memorial picture or just a family pet portrait can be a part of your home decor and stir fond thoughts and they make great gifts to family members. I’ve painted dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and guinea pigs!
Here’s how Pet Portrait Commissions Work:
You send me 3-5 photos of your pet. Photos taken from eye level and in various poses help so I can see how they stand, sit, or show their posture. (Photos from above looking down at your pet are not useful)
We decide on acrylics/watercolor/gouache and size. I may make suggestions of materials and paper/canvas.
A price is negotiated depending on materials and time/difficulty and estimated shipping and the invoice is printed
You pay 1/2 deposit upfront. ( this ensures follow-through with the process)
I make several sketches with color palettes and pet positions and you choose.
I paint and keep you informed about the process and timing.I send 2-3 photos of progress.
I send photo of finished piece, photo of packed piece.
You complete payment.
I ship item.
You let me know when it has arrived!
I find the collaboration wonderful. The best way to know whether you might like one is to take a look at the style of my acrylic and watercolor or gouache painting and see if you are drawn to it first. Letting me know which of my previous works you like, helps me know what style and colors you are drawn to as a collector.
I can also make products with your pets’ images. For instance, I’ve done a commission of handmade greeting cards using some prints of the originals that I painted. Because I work with Printify, I can put pet paintings on tshirs, mugs, or prints for you. (The quality may vary according to Printify’s product production companies). But you can look at my “shop” to see various products I’ve designed to get an idea of what I can put together. .
